Overview

expt ("the App") is a local file reader for iOS. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the App collects and how it is used.

Data We Do NOT Collect

File contents — your files are never read, uploaded, or transmitted
File paths or filenames — not sent to any server
Personal information — no accounts, no login, no email collection
Location data
Contacts, photos, or other device data

Data We May Collect

Crash Reports

Anonymous crash reports via Sentry: stack traces, device model, and OS version to help us fix bugs. No personal data is included.

Usage Analytics

Anonymous usage analytics via PostHog: event counts (e.g., "file opened", "feature used") to improve the App. No file contents or names are tracked.

iCloud Sync

If enabled, reading positions and preferences are synced via Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is not accessible to us.

Data Storage

All files and reading data are stored locally on your device in the App's sandbox. No data is stored on our servers.

Third-Party Services

Apple — App Store, iCloud (governed by Apple's privacy policy)
Sentry — crash reporting (sentry.io/privacy)
PostHog — product analytics (posthog.com/privacy)

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
